Numbers can be scary. It’s my job as a CFO to be an educator of those numbers. So I don’t just go to my colleagues and say, “Here’s the financial information. Tell me what’s happening.” My job is to go to them and say, “Here’s what’s happening.”
For example, I go to the head of sales and I say, “Our collections have slowed down by 10%. This is how that affects our company.”
Then the head of sales and I can come up with a solution of how we can pull that back and help the company regain the value that we lost in that.
