Folks, I just read this article that talks about when you should hire A CFO. It says it should be when you’re at about $30 to $50 million of revenue. Honestly, I think this is a bunch of bs. Hiring A CFO isn’t a bad success. It’s a signal of scale and complexity hitting a critical mass. Here are the triggers I think you need to look at.

Number one, revenue growing quickly, and the CEO doesn’t know if you’re profitable or cash positive. Number two, you’re prepping for an acquisition, a capital raised or an exit. Or number three, cashflow is unpredictable and the financial stress is creeping up. If you wait too long, you’re gonna hemorrhage value through poor decision making, but when you get in at the right time, A CFO is going to add value to your business.
